Dryer Running for Two Cycles? Look Beyond the Heating Element
Long drying times can involve the laundry load, lint screen, exhaust path or dryer itself. Here is what to report.

Separate no heat from slow drying
A dryer that tumbles without warmth is a different complaint from one that heats but needs repeated cycles. Note which situation applies, whether every load is affected and when the change began. Mention if the washer has recently been leaving clothing unusually wet. These details help the team decide what needs inspection rather than assume that every drying complaint is a heating-element repair.
Begin with ordinary user maintenance
Whirlpool recommends clearing the lint screen after each use. A loaded screen reduces airflow, and clothing also needs room to tumble. Review the cycle and load guidance in your appliance manual. A very wet load can take longer to dry even when the dryer is producing heat. Check the washer's spin result before blaming the dryer alone.
The exhaust path is part of the picture
Whirlpool identifies a crushed or obstructed vent as a possible reason for extended drying times. Cleaning the removable lint screen does not clean the full exhaust route. Let the team know whether the vent exits through a wall or roof and whether it has been cleaned recently. Do not climb onto a roof or disconnect a gas appliance to investigate the vent yourself.
Choose the inspection that fits the symptom
Royal Star offers dryer repair and dryer vent cleaning. Describe the symptoms when booking so the team can confirm the suitable scope. A vent-cleaning visit and an internal appliance repair address different work, and cleaning is not a guarantee that a mechanical fault will disappear. If the dryer overheats, smells burnt or repeatedly shuts down, stop using it and request professional assessment before another load.
